A Friday on the Links

Ok fine, there is nothing golfing related going on in this post. However, there are going to be a whole lot of link, so get your clicking finger ready.

Melissa at A Fit and Spicy Life tagged me in the 7 Links post that has been flying around the blog world this past week. The idea is to take a little stroll down memory lane and remember some good posts you’ve written. I can’t believe Jessie Bea Eats is 2 years + 1 month old! I didn’t post all the much for the first year I had my blog, though, so I don’t have millions of posts or anything, but writing this blog has been a whole lot of fun.

1 – Most Beautiful Post: I Passed!

Probably the greatest day of my life was the day I found out I passed the California Bar. After previously failing the exam, I was beyond nervous and anxious for the results, and was convinced that I failed. Seeing the results that said that my name appeared on the pass list was literally unbelievable. I must have read that sentence 20 times before it sunk in. I’m tearing up right now thinking about it. It probably didn’t mean a lot to other people, but it meant the world to me.

2 – Most Popular Post: Grilled Stuffed Jalapeños

People just went crazy over this post. So much so that I was surprised it didn’t crash my blog. I have no problem telling you that I don’t get a ton of blog traffic, but this one went through the roof. Within an hour I had a thousand views. Normally I get like, 100 a day and I’m stoked!

Aside from this post being popular, it’s really really good. I made the grilled stuffed jalapeños to take to a super bowl party and they were inhaled quickly. The next weekend I went to another party at the same friends house, and they had made a batch that were similarly inhaled. My friends told me that they make them almost every weekend now. So not only are they popular on the web, they’re ultra popular in real life, too.

3 – Most Controversial Post: Complain and Ye Shall Receive [Good Coffee}

I am by no means controversial on my blog. In real life, that’s another story, of course! However, someone stumbledupon this tiny, silly blog I posted about bad coffee, and it ended up getting a lot of views. Someone on stumbleupon wrote a review saying that it was dumb that it got stumbled. I hate to agree since I wrote it, but I’m not sure it’s at all stumble-worthy :)

4 – Most Helpful Post: A Sampling of Meals and Emotions

A number of people emailed me or tweeted me after reading this post. I think it speaks to all of us who have struggled with failure in life. I was really unsure about putting it out there for others to read, but I’m so glad that I did. I went through a really difficult time in my life, and it has made me really appreciate the successes I have had since then. Moving on and letting go are really important, and I think I understand that a whole lot better now.

5 – Surprise Success: Coffee Fix: Homemade Iced Americano

My Coffee Fix series in general was a surprising success. I love that so many people like this recipe because it’s something that I have almost every week!

6 – Not Enough Attention: Chocolate Chocolate Chip Muffins

This recipe is seriously good. I just made it again last week with leftover coffee instead of the milk and it was dynamite! Look for a post about that variation soon, and read it, dangit!

7 – Most Proud Of: The Food I Eat

Making the change from vegetarian to omnivore was something I thought a lot about, and I’m glad I was able to write down my feelings about it in a way that was logical.

WAIT! There are more links!

My bloggie friend Julia is giving away free Stonyfield Activia yogurt on her blog.

Mama Pea, whose blog (and dough balls) I absolutely love, wrote a book that came out this week!

Janetha, of Meals & Moves, put together an auction that raised a staggering $26,432 for a fellow blogger, Susan, that is currently kicking cancer in the booty. The blog world is just phenomenal.

My most favorite blog friend Kimmie‘s birthday is tomorrow. Go show her some love!

  1. OMG — I LOVE jalapeno poppers! And I love making them vegan (yay vegan!) — sooooo spicy, but soooo delicious!
